Purpose
Greenpeace East Asia (GPEA) is a leading environmental campaigning organization, working with supporters in East Asia and globally to tackle the most crucial environmental crises affecting the region and the world. The effectiveness of Greenpeace is in its ability to work to engage supporters with key environmental battles, inspiring them to take actions to make the world more sustainable.
As part of the Fundraising & Engagement department data team, the Data Insights Analyst is responsible for collecting and analyzing data on fundraising and engagement activities to generate insights that drive growth and effectiveness of our environmental campaigning as well as support for the financial forecasting of the organization.
Scope
The Data Insights Analyst / Senior Data Insights Analyst supports the Deputy Executive Director and the Deputy Director - Head of Data Insights & Strategy in the optimization of data tools, and development of analytics to support the growth and operations of the Fundraising and Engagement department.
At Realise Level 1, this role primarily focuses on maintaining the accuracy and quality of the supporter database, along with providing an understanding of supporter behavior through analysis of data.
At Realise Level 2 or above, this role also provides the primary support for income forecasting, reporting, and donor research needs (current, lapsed and prospect donors) as well as tracking supporter behavior trends to create meaningful long-term relationships.
The role will work across teams and projects to support data analysis in Engagement, Fundraising, and Program teams to assess income and program performance while growing digital acquisition and marketing channels. It will also play a key role in training data users and helping grow the use of data and analytics within the organization.
Job responsibilities
At Realise Level 1, the Data Insights Analyst will:

Take the primary lead in maintaining accurate supporter information including contact, financial, mailing list data, and e-mail lists

Ensure timely processing of organizational income and take care of administrative responsibilities (e.g. finance reconciliation, fund permit requests, sending and tracking of donor pledges/ letters, annual receipts, dealing with bounce backs from mailing programmes, etc.)

Work closely with other teams within the FR&E department in handling various data requests such as data segmentation, data cleansing, and other coordination tasks.

Improve systems and business processes that will maximize financial return along with performing the administrative work (e.g. sending pledge/ letters, etc.).

Perform regular or ad hoc report and analysis of data stored in the CRM system or other systems to inform fundraising and engagement activity

Develop and ensure privacy laws and other data handling best practices are followed.

Provide good documentation on any business and technical processes and practices.
At Realise Level 2 or above, this role will also be responsible for the following:

Support the development of the departmental budget, global reporting, and INGO benchmark.

Support the development and ongoing implementation of a Long Term Planning Model to forecast income across various channels to grow income and improve resource planning.

Coordinate, develop, and refine performance indicators and reporting; maintain dashboards to measure and track KPIs.

Play a role in driving the regionalization and globalization of reporting metrics, help develop best practices for reporting analytics; align metrics with other offices in East Asia and internationally.

Provide guidance, skill-sharing, and support to other colleagues.

Competencies Profile
Skills and Expertise required

Degree in business analytics, statistics, engineering, computer science or a related field, post graduate degree is highly regarded.

Demonstrated experience in financial and/or customer analysis using multiple data sources.

Demonstrated ability to create and use complex and efficient SQL queries; work with Business Intelligence and data analysis software including a data warehouse and Tableau.

Knowledge of R, Python, and other data science tool sets would be desirable but not essential.

Well established communication skills and ability to communicate complex analysis in plain English to management and senior level stakeholders.
Specific Work Environment

There is a preference for this regional role to be based in either our Seoul, Taipei or Hong Kong offices and will require collaboration with colleagues in other regional offices as well as international offices globally.

Occasional work or travel to other locations within and outside of Greenpeace East Asia region for meetings with partners, consultants, experts; training, conferences, seminars, etc.

Occasional travel to other Greenpeace offices for training, skill, and knowledge sharing.
