Purpose and Scope of the Job

Overall purpose of the job

The Public Networking Officer is responsible for broadening Greenpeace non-financial supporters in mainland China and engaging them in online activities that help to achieve Greenpeace environmental mission.

Scope

The post holder is line managed by the Head of Communications & Action Unit and assumes responsibility in the development and execution of strategy to build and engage non-financial supporters in mainland China through online channels. The post holder may be assigned by the Line Manager to work in projects under the leadership of the Project Leaders.

The post holder will usually work in a team composed of campaign and communications staff. Effective work requires integrated approach and knowledge. The post holder may be assigned to work in projects which involve other Greenpeace offices.

Discretion is exercised in handling confidential and sensitive information.

Job responsibilities

Conceptual tasks, Strategy development and/or Project management

1.  Have good understanding on target audience and supporters’ insight and behavior based on data, and give sound suggestion to campaign design;

2. Be sensitive on new digital trend and social environment to build brand preference

3. Work independently in developing strategic and integrated engagement and communication plan with excellent execution skill;

4. Skilled in building and managing project schedules and timeline;

5.If the project is lack of comms lead, the PNO should bear the responsibility of communication strategy and media package and relationships.

Implementation

1.Generate attractive content for Greenpeace's own website/social media channels. 2.Implement effective public engagement strategies. products and actions to support campaign goals.

3.Identify and expand Greenpeace communication channels online and on mobile.

4.Develop and maintain partnerships with internet, mobile and media companies.

5.Maintain and develop relationships with online opinion leaders, external agencies and contacts in responsible areas.

6.Liaise with other Greenpeace offices and Greenpeace International on issues related to responsible areas.

Support/ Coaching/ Leadership

1. Advise campaign projects on their supporter and public engagement strategy.

2. Coordinate communications, campaign and action staff to align with the supporter engagement strategy.

3. Train and guide campaign and communications staff to carry out effective supporter engagement strategy.

 

Compliance/ Keeping Framework Conditions

1. Budget control when carrying out online and offline activities or other supporter-related work plans.

2. Work closely with others, including peers in other Greenpeace offices, to ensure coherence of public messaging, alignment with Greenpeace global identity and values, and adherence to Greenpeace global communications protocols and standards.

Skills and Expertise required

Communication related tools and software

Knowledge of trends and opportunities in communication especially social media.

Specific Work Environment

The post holder will be required to work under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging environment.
The position works in a standard office environment, and is required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives.
Be on call after hours and on weekends as requested.
