Purpose and Scope of the Job

This position is responsible for Greenpeace’s routine operations in mainland China to be compliant with the laws and regulations on international NGOs, including  supporting key projects administration.

The position also needs to maintain and extend strategic partnerships to create more opportunities, resilience, and legitimacy for Greenpeace’s campaigns and development in mainland China.

This position needs to work closely and effectively with all departments in Greenpeace‘s Beijing Office.

Job responsibilities

Project monitoring and administration

  • Monitor all campaign projects to ensure legality and follow the internal processes and systems.
  • Support project teams on project management and provide advice to program departments/project teams to facilitate temporary activity application or other necessary legal process and internal operation procedures.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project teams and different functional departments to resolve compliance and feasibility problems.

Organization Compliance

  • Coordinate program teams and multiple departments to complete the annual planning and reporting processes timely according to law requirements. 
  • Support designing and improving internal guidelines, document templates, and methodology for routine reporting works required by law and supervisory bodies. 
  • Work closely with the Political Unit & Program Department to prepare other documents/information required by supervisory bodies.

Networking & Strategic Partnership Development 

  • Maintain relationships with Chinese partners for organizational collaboration, especially academic institutions and NGOs / social organizations. 
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders as per required for organizational development.

Skills and Expertise required

1. Familiarity with the social, political and cultural context of Mainland China.

2. At least 3 years work experience in related fields,e.g. project administration, compliance, or relationship management.

3. Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.

Specific Work Environment

Work in a standard office environment and is required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives.
