Purpose and Scope of the Job

The Fundraising & Engagement Director (FRED) is responsible to provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of fundraising and engagement strategies in Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan to maximize long term financial and public support for Greenpeace East Asia (GPEA). The FRED is also a member of Senior Management Team (SMT) of GPEA.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and lead fundraising market plans and income strategy in line with organizational values that support GPEA’s operating budget and our future income and supporter growth goals.
  • Lead in organization-wide FRE planning processes across teams from strategy planning to operations to revenue assessments at monthly, quarterly, and annual intervals.
  • Set yearly goals for Fundraising and Engagement strategy including tracking progress, setbacks, and overall performance including analyzing results and presenting findings to the executive team.
  • Formulate a diversity of effective fundraising programmes to increase net revenues and ensure the organization’s long-term financial stability and growth. Manage, coordinate and provide leadership in all areas of GPEA’s fundraising and engagement strategies and activities.
  • Ensure that external trends and developments using audience insights, data intelligence and fundraising benchmarking positioning are monitored and applied strategically to GPEA.
  • Ensure data plays a central role in planning, strategy development and Fundraising & Engagement activity to enable effective supporter engagement; set the direction of the effective use of data, analysis and insights.
  • Provide strategic oversight of digital fundraising and supporter engagement technologies, including CRM systems, websites, and digital marketing tools, ensuring they are optimized for income growth, donor retention, and operational efficiency.

Skills and Expertise required

  • At least 5 years of similar leadership role in organizations with comparable size and scale.
  • Proven track record in fundraising that has directly resulted in increased income for an organization with comparable donor base (~ 210K) and income (~ €35M).
  • Experience working across a multi-channel (and preferably multi-market) fundraising program.
  • Background in data-driven fundraising with proven knowledge of data segmentation and targeting of specific audiences.
  • High standard of numeracy, budgeting, negotiation, communications and presentation skills.

Specific Work Environment

Works in a standard office environment, and is frequently required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives.
